All this for my tiny garden.......

Well I have a very small garden. It is a square foot garden. The man behind the square foot garden, lives in Utah, and my garden is from him. We tried to get it going ourselves, but Mike has been way to busy. So we bought the box, grid, and soil mixture from that man. Nate and I went out and set it up last week. (After I almost sacrificed my body to pull a few weeds) As we were planting the vegetables, we started talking about deer. We planted 3 trees last year and deer killed 2 of them, by stripping the bark and limbs off of them. The deer eat peoples tulips and such around the neighborhood. So as we put all of the work into this tiny garden, I was saying, how desperately I didn't want any critters to eat it. That somehow lead to this. Nathan said, "hey mom if I had a BB gun I could scare the deer away". I thought about it, and decided that it would be fun for him to have one. He is old enough to know how to be safe. I did tell him, he could "shoot his eye out"! So we headed out to buy a BB gun and ended up with an air soft gun. It was his favorite kind of "war gun". In the garb the deer will never see him coming. The super cool part of this gun is that it runs on batteries. So you can shoot it and make it automatic. Here we were together as a family on Sunday, and everybody goes out on the porch to take turns firing the gun. So I say, "all this for my little garden"
This is my little garden. The string in the background is our lot line. The dead grass in front of my garden is our yard, which we think we have the sprinklers working right now, and hope it will soon turn green again.
This was Issy on Fathers Day. Her father was gone to Vegas, so she and her mom were with us. We took her grandpa breakfast in bed, then she enjoyed some bacon all of her own. Double fisted as Mike calls it.
This was interesting. As Nate and I left Wal Mart after getting his gun. These guys were out driving these trucks into this car. There was quite a crowd gathered, and the little truck just couldn't get up on the car. We did watch the Rover drive up on the other side, it was kinda cool. Somebody said there was a car show and they were out getting people excited to go to it.

I LOVE the Square Foot Garden Method! We've planted 4 boxes this year. It will eliminate much time from weeding, in fact I haven't seen a weed yet in my boxes and we've had them up for a month now! And I think they look so pretty all organized in their squares. I think your garden looks great! What did you plant? And if I were a deer, I'd be scared of the outfit and gun!

Hmmmm. Tell Nathan to be careful about where he shows up dressed like that. The deer might not see him, but somebody who doesn't know him might end up getting him arrested. I thought I asked him never to kill another deer??????

I know this is stupid, but all I could think when I saw those trucks was - I feel sorry for the little car. It looks too much like Chaz' beloved George, sitting at a wrecking place up in Ogden!
