All this time, who knew?

So all of this time I have lived in my house, I was missing out! It turns out the funnest thing to do in my house is to open and close one of the doors on the entertainment center. then for extra fun you pull out all of the DVD's and toss them all over the floor. I watched Issy today and it turns out that was her funnest thing, she did it like 5 times today! I caught this shot and thought it was great! Granddaughters are awesome.

So here is the crazy thing. I was watching Issy today as I said before. We had a million errands to run, it took this grandma for ever to get them done with an extra person to carry around. But, I digress we went to Wal Mart on our errands. I am supposed to make a recipe from food storage to take to a Stake preparedness fair. Well I don't normally cook from food storage, so I found a RICE AND BEANS recipe that sounded good. While I was in Walmart I decide to grab the cans of beans and a bag of rice to try out before I take it. Guess what, there was no rice! It was all gone. I am supposing that people are a little panicked. I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone, and started feeling like I was in the Twilight Zone. My friend on the outside kept me grounded, but there were tons of people there checking out. One woman beside me was buying stuff for 72 hour kits. I started thinking that they all knew something I didn't.
This was Issy after shopping with all of the crazy people. It was bright and windy outside.

Good movies we have watched recently out to rent:

~Return With Honor (an LDS movie, Nathan and I liked it)

~27 Dresses (cute little chick flick, that guys will probably like)

I got a movie in my Movie Club called "Luther" it's about the man that broke off from the Catholic Church, and I believe started the Lutheran Church. It came out years ago but I never saw it. I know nothing about him, just that he saw some things in the Catholic church that didn't make sence to him. He faught them on it and then left the church. I hope it is good, and I hope I get some down time to sit and watch a movie!

This week.........

Well this is Issy making funny faces with Grandpa. Those 2 really enjoy each others company:-) This was a crazy day. It was Thursday it was warmer and pleasant in the morning. Then clouds rolled in and little snow flakes started to fall. Then there was a little more sunshine and all of the sudden there was a crazy little snow storm. It snowed enough that it stuck to the ground. Nathan and I left to take dinner to a family, the sun was out and bright. The snow had melted in like 15 minutes and heavy steam was coming off of the oil top road and some off the ground. Crazy!

Then Erin and Jon threw Issy a first b-day party. They had to wait until certain people were in town. Grandpa being one of them. It was a fun "PINK" birthday party. And Issy did not like her birthday cake. When her dad put her hand in it she was so upset. It was so cute.
And I'm beginning to think our Prophets have been right all along:-) It's starting to make me feel a little nervous that the food situation in OUR country is getting so crazy. Rice is being rationed at Sam's Club, that's just weird. There was a woman with a bakery on the news the other night. She was having to decide what food to quit making, because she went from paying $3.79 for a huge bag of flour to paying $25 and some odd cents for the same bag. If I would have been storing my staple foods, like I have been told my entire life, and rotating them, I would not be feeling as nervous.They are projecting on the news that groceries are just going to cost more and more. I might have to take second out on the house just to buy groceries!:-) I think things just might start to get interesting, I suppose I just never thought this kind of stuff would really happen. But I have been warned..........

Our last day in Vegas.....

So on our last day in Vegas we went and saw white lions and white tigers and dolphins. It was pretty cool. I thought this white lion was pretty. We could almost touch the dolphins, (we weren't allowed to) I don't think I have ever been that close to dolphins before. They would just swim by and one stopped and looked at us for quite a while. I caught 2 of them doing a flip. I caught them in mid air. I took a million pictures hoping to get some really good ones.
This is my friend Robin. We met in Amsterdam, last Sept. Our husbands work for the same company in different departments. She took us to see the dolphins, she had gone last year. She is also the lady who took me to the house in Holland where "The Hiding Place" happened.

Here is Nathan and Mike at the booth. This is where Mike spent all of his time for 10 days.

Nathan and I went just before the show closed. Everybody was giddy they were so excited that it was over. We stayed for a few hours. The place we were staying is just across the street from the convention center, so we would just walk. Mike and the others had to wait for the boxes and crates to be unloaded so they could put everything away. Mike was there until almost 10:00. I thought it was pretty cool when we were at the show, and people would find out that Nathan was Mikes son, they would tell Nathan good things about Mike. One guy told Nathan, your Dad's a Rock Star! And one of the head guys in the company told him his dad was a legend. I know it made Nathan and Mike feel good. Only on our way out of town, we stopped to get gas. A "bum" ask Mike for money, because he was hungry. Mike found $4 in his pocket and gave it to him. Then Bum went over and told Nathan, your dad is a good man. Then we all chuckled because we figured he was off to buy a beer.
They hire girls to stay in the booth and scan guys cards. Nathan is with Miss Nevada of last year. She got "lot's of attention" as I'm sure you can tell.

a more kid friendly day....

So Nathan and I had a more kid friendly day today. No more dead sliced up people:-) We saw the lions at the MGM Grand. This one was just gnawing up that chew toy.
I took Nathan to Game Works, it's an arcade but it has some really fun games.They are actually like rides, they bounce and move you around as you play them. He liked that but we only spent 2 hours in there. Then we went and got lunch. While we were eating we noticed a homeless guy in the food court, he must have had turrets or something. He would just kinda shout out . But we thought he was probably hungry and just sitting around seeing people eat wouldn't feel good. So we bought him some lunch as we left.
We also went to M&M World. Our neighbor told us they have a little 3-D movie, so we watched that.

This was the wall of colored M&Ms. I think the grey ones looked less appealing than the others.

Interesting day.....

Well poor Nathan there is a body exhibit here in Vegas and some more traveling the country. People are all talking about it and how great it is. Well today Nathan, a friend of mine and myself went to see it. It was fascinating but gross. It is actual bodies and body parts, but all of the bodily fluids were replace with some sort of plastic stuff. Nathan did not enjoy it. The guy in this picture was at the Las Vegas exhibit. I better do a fun kid thing tomorrow, or Nathan will never go with me again.

Then we went to the Wynn, were my friend is staying. It was pretty and nice, but way to expensive. And she says they charge for everything, when you are staying there. Nathan took this picture while we were up their. It was sunny today but VERY windy.

just another day in paradise......

So here are a couple of pictures of our room. Yes your eyes are not deceiving you that is a full size bed. Mike and I are both king size people and we are functioning, sleeping on a full size bed, I do miss our bed back home. We have a full kitchen so we can make stuff when we are hungry. It's nicer than being in the loud smokey casinos. Nathan thought is was funny that the grocery store even had a room with slot machines in it. Notice that I am just chillin' while I'm here and actually putting a puzzle together.

Michael's beloved van has failed us. It broke down on the way to the airport to pick us up. We need to drive it home after this whole thing is over. So yesterday Nathan and I spent 21/2 hours at a garage. I was making calls about "The Beast" or sitting in a garage until 3:00 PM.

The older man I finally found to work on the car is active LDS and gave me his church resume' so I would feel comfortable using him. He is a high priest group leader, a temple worker, and a scouter. He is also a dutch oven master cook, putting on a fund raiser for 300 Saturday night with tons of dutch ovens, for their youth to go on a trek. He had pictures to share of his dutch oven stuff, just sitting in his desk. So I figure if he cheats us it's on his head.

Mike took Nathan and I along to a dinner last night. It was for a certain group of guys he works with. We went to Mandalay Bay, it is a huge casino and pretty nice. We went to an upscale Mexican Food Restaurant. We sat outside by the lazy river and the breeze just blew, it was soooo nice. The food was good there were 12 of us, and the bill was $900. I bet only half of the bill was food, and the other half was liqueur. It just really makes me glad we don't drink, besides all of the other reasons, it's just to expensive.

We learned a few things from a guy from England and a guy from Australia. We learned that a "Dutch oven" is when you let "Polly out of prison" under the covers, then lift the covers up over your head to share it with your nearest and dearest. It sheds a new light on our mechanic who is a master at dutch ovens!:-)

So many things......

OK today is our princess's birthday she is 1 and I LOVE this picture of her, she was laughing and having fun, and I took a picture and got "the lip".
It's awesome! Happy Birthday Baby!













Now on to the matter at hand. Nathan and I had come down to Vegas to spend a little time with Mike. I saw the biggest "pickup truck" I have ever seen, I took a picture. I'm pretty sure that pickup doesn't make it to the Home Depot very often:-)







We spent the evening at the Wynn. I have to admit it is very nice. We had dinner in a little cafe' there. We sat out on the terrace, it was so nice outside.
Mike got me my favorite dessert, creme brule'. This one was in a long and shallow dish, so it had a ton of caramelized sugar, so yummy!

Then Mike took us to "Spamalot." It was very PG13 (luckily Nate turned 15 a few days before)but we had a lot of fun.

The picture that Mike was standing in front of is an exact replica of me and it says "Trophy Wife". I don't know how they knew we were coming and got it up in time.

Well it was Nathan's Birthday yesterday. It was a little lonely just he and I, his dad is gone working, his brother was gone working, his sister had to pick her husband up at the airport, so it was just us. But we had fun, we went and bought him a few new clothes. He has wanted a new lighter jacket, and after looking in a ton of stores at the mall, we found the right one. He is wearing his new jacket in this picture. Plus we went and had dinner at one of his favorite places and he got the sticky fingers, YUM! After that we came home, his brother finally made it home from work, and we all had german chocolate cake. So he had a nice birthday.

Then we woke up this morning to snow. This is the 3rd time this week we have had snow. It's going to warm up and melt it all away, but April snow, it's a little crazy. Click on the picture and make it big. You will see that we had deer walking through the backyard last night.

My Issy......

Well what a fun time this has been. Issy's Mom & Dad went off to Disney World and left their little Princess here with us. We have really enjoyed her she is an awesome ray of sunshine!
The only problem is we are "old"! We are so tired by the time we get to bed, I don't know how I did this baby thing 4 times! Anyway here's a few things we did while she was here.
She actually scrolled a few pictures on the computer, so smart.
I think she might like John Cusack. While the boys were off to the Priesthood Session she sat on my lap for 20 minutes watching "Martian Child". Wonder if I put on "Serendipity" if she would watch longer?:-)

Uncle Grizzly (as Erin calls him) just can't help himself, he has to grab her.

She got sassy shopping at DI with grandma.

We were naughty and fed her her first bacon, she refused to eat any more eggs after she had tasted the bacon:-)
Grandpa was amazed at how bendable she really was. Well she was not amused and gave us "the look"! I think she's got it down pretty well.

We love her so much this was a great experience for us all. There was this little book I found at the library when Erin was about 2 or 3. It was called "Grandma and Grandpa" it had no words but it was the best. These grandparents watched their granddaughter for an afternoon. They played with her the entire time. Then she played hospital where her grandparents laid down on the floor and she bandaged them up. And they fell asleep while lieing on the floor. And her mom came to pick her up. It was so cute that I said that I wanted us to be just like that. Well this weekend we did it. We may never do it again, but we did it this time!

Issy had a busy day.......

She showed grandpa how to play solitare on his laptop. She tollerated being adored by the little people.
She snacked on puffies and watched the "Chipmonk" movie.

And she had lunch with Cammon and Lorri.

So Uncle Nate is experimenting with his look. Unfortunately he has to use my camera so i show everybody his pictures:-) I gave Issy her first big bubble bath, she liked it at first. Even gave her grandpa some sassy pictures.
But then the bubbles turned on her! They started to stick to her and make her scared. So grandma jumped in the tub with her, we played and she relaxed!:-) Her feet were so cute I had to take this picture. She kept them crossed the entire time I was in there. I think she picked up the idea of relaxing in the tub pretty fast.
She also got a few phone calls made. If she called any of you I'm sorry!

Who knew that pulling tissues out of the box could be so fun.
