I messed up a post.....

OK I was starting a post when that crazy storm came up and I stopped it and put the tumbleweed pictures up. Then I went in and finished the post and posted it and it showed up under the tumbleweed post. So scroll down under the tumble weed post to see my newest post. I just wish I knew how to work this stuff better.

Mike started a new sport this morning!

So we had a crazy wind storm come up this morning. It blew hundreds of tumbleweeds at our house. Then they all went around the house and hid under the porch. So Mike went out and played a little "tumble weed round up!" While the princess stood at the window laughing and waving.

This is only one swipe!

a sleep over at grandma's.....

Saturday the princesses' parents had a rather large project to work on. So they dropped the princess of with us. We had to give her her breathing treatments. But it was very easy because she does most of it herself.

She still doesn't have all of her teeth and she will be 2 in a few short weeks.

I just thought it was so cute that she gave herself the breathing treatments. Sometimes you have to help her toward the end she gets tired.

Then her Uncle Chris played with her for most of the day. He missed out on watching her get this big, so he loves to play with her. He can't get over how cute she is. they played Tea Party for forever. He would "gulp, gulp, gulp" his tea and she would just belly laugh. They had great times.

Even though she was sick she was happy and had fun with us.

I think she is terribly smart to know what to do with that bike. Because none of us have ever ridden a bike in front of her:-) But some how she knows your supposed to ride it. Maybe she has seen Elmo ride one.

We gave the dog a bath....

Then we gave the princess a bath. Her parents were going to be super late so we said she should just spend the night with us. Grandpa helped her a little when she got tired of her breathing treatment.

then she was missing her mom and "bebe". So we called and she talked or should I say listened to her mom talk, and she was happy again.

She spent the night in between grandma and grandpa. It was fun to feel her little warm body next to me that night. Then the next day her mom brought the tiny princess and spent the day with us. I have no pictures of the tiny princess. We put on their tutu's and took some pictures and I was dieing to take pictures and couldn't find my camera. At the very last minute. When the tiny princess was eating I got a couple of shots.

The princess is adored by her loving uncles. They all (well except for Nathan) will follow her around and play with her and keep her happy.

a few days this week....

On Wednesday Chris and I spent some time with the girls. Erin had a dentist appointment so we brought the princess back to our house. I bought a fun little iron bike to hang by my Amsterdam stuff. Because you can't thing of Amsterdam with out thinking of bikes.

The princess was so funny because she was riding it. We were impressed with her skills, she can ride the bike backwards and on the handlebars!

Then she danced with her mom to American Idol.

Chris danced with the Tiny Princess.

The tiny princess was so sweet!

The entire time I was with Issy she had a fever. She had a bad cough and runny nose, so Erin took her to the doctor. They told her it was a cold and there is nothing they could do for her. A week and a half down the road Issy was running a fever. I tossed her on my bed to get her shoes on to leave, and when she landed on the bed she cried because her head hurt. So Erin said, first thing in the morning she was getting her into the doctor. She found out that Issy had a double ear infection and some bad sickness that turns into RSV for babies. The doctor told her to keep the girls isolated, because if Elizabeth got it she could die. That was very scary for the kids. So Erin is trying to take care of Issy while protecting Elizabeth. It is crazy the stuff they go through!

Then Thursday morning we woke up to a crazy snow storm. The weather was beautiful and perfect last week and we are cold and snowy this week.

It was such a quick heavy storm just driving Nathan to schoool, everytime I stopped for a light or anything I lost traction.

And of course, this is Nathan thrilled to be going to school:-)

Our week....

We had such a beautiful week of spring. The weather was perfect and gave us all a good case of "spring fever." Nate even decided to cut all of his hair off. He wanted a shorter cut. I think he looks great. But I hope he doesn't get cold tomorrow because it is supposed to rain today and snow tomorrow. We shall see.....

Mike and I were out shopping for the elusive white hankies yesterday. I remembered there was an old fashion store in our little town and I told him lets go there. It was a great store with everything from fabric to furniture. Mike saw this sign there and had to buy it. We just laughed, because that is the way we feel. The little girls can come over anytime of the day or night! We love them and get so excited when we know we are going to get to see them!
Speaking of old fashioned, there is a party store in our little town that sells old fashion candies. Chick-o-sticks, Necco Wafers, suckers, jolly ranchers, gummy everythings, so once in a while Nate wants to go there and stock up. So off we went.

These are "frooties" they are made by tootsie roll people, but are fruit flavors and come in lot's of different colors. My favorite is the fruit punch flavor, yum!!!

Salt water taffy in pretty spring colors.

Stars

And lot's of fun flavored candy sticks.

Then we made our way to the grocery store and the boys found exciting cereal. Nate found High School Musical cereal shaped like stars.....

And Chris found Hannah Montana in pink and purple, they were ever so excited!:-)

Then later last night the kids came over. This is the Tiny Princess with her sisters big flower on her little head.

The kids picked up some darling tutu's for the girls. We put the Princess's on her and it was the Cinderella dress all over again! She cried and threw herself into the floor. It was so cute.

And from behind it was even cuter!:-)

Then grandma took her to the mirror and showed her how pretty she was. She let me fix her hair and she kept her flower on her head.

Elizabeth went along for the ride. She just chilled' in her sweet little outfit.

I, as always, love it when she is awake and looking around. She smiled at me twice yesterday. and I know it was because she was happy to see her grandma, and not just "gas.":-)

I gave the princess a "Chik-o-stick" one of my favorite old fashioned candies. And this was after her first taste, she said "yum."

A play day for me!

So Friday Mike took Chris and I to an early movie. We went and saw Knowing. It got bad reviews but we all liked it. It was very intense with graphic disaster scenes. Then we went to a park where Erin and her friends were. It was a beautiful day, so they all wanted to be out in the park. I have taken to many pictures of Issy because when I pull out the camera she makes this face, grandpa joined it.

Even the tiny princess enjoyed the park.
The princess loved the slide.

We took the little girls to play and the big girls relaxed in the sun.

We got a shot of all of them. Then the princess was tired and cranky so we all went home.

After I got home Kim and I hooked up and spent the evening together. She took me to really cute shops and we just had fun looking at all the fun stuff. She is so funny and has some very creative decorating ideas. We caught up on each others lives and had a nice long dinner. We talked books which I really love and she went on her way. I did nothing on Friday but play it was awesome!

It's all about me and makeup.......

This post is about me and is more like a little personal history, I would like to think for my granddaughters:-)

When I was a little girl I loved make-up. Most of the women in my family would wear it, and I would watch them go from pretty to gorgeous. My Grandma also wore wigs, she had them on cool styrofoam heads and would sit and watch TV in the evenings and fix her “hair.” For my 8th birthday, I begged for a toy that had a girl head and hair. You could put make up on the face and fix the hair. But it was fake makeup and I couldn’t do anything with her straight doll hair except put it in a ponytail. I was bummed.

My mom was very strict as I was growing up. She knew she was, so she let up on the make up end of things. I was allowed to wear makeup when I was 12 years old. I had already been sneaking pastel eye shadow once in a while at school. When I was about 14 my Aunt Sherry got a hold of my eyebrows with some tweezers and opened my eyes to new possibilities:-) Everybody in my family wore perfume or cologne. We all fixed our hair and wore hair spray, even the men, that 70’s feathered look, took hairspray to hold. I loved make up and even though we didn’t have the internet or all the glamour magazines that are out there now, I read everything I could find about it. I talked my mom into letting me become an “Avon Lady” when I was around 14. So I could get makeup and pay for it. That didn’t work so great for me, but it left me with some awesome color samples. I would use 3 sometimes 4 colors on my eyes. My friends would ask me to do their make up, my mom would have me do hers. My dad would have me style his hair before he went to church or on a date with mom.

I now realize that like my Steven having his beard at 15, that was his signature. Well mine was make up. I don’t have any pictures of me as a teen to show you (because my husband threw them all away 20 years ago, that is a whole other story). But I was cute. I did my make up very tastefully and I felt very good about myself. In the early 80’s the colors got darker and more dramatic. I had navy blue, deep purple, rusts, and dark brown and I loved it.

Then I met Mike and married him. My mother would call me on a regular basis and remind me to keep fixing myself up and wear my make up. She would tell me, “too many women just let their selves go after they get married” I agreed. But on the other side of it. I married into a family that didn’t do most of that. They kept it on a more simple level, minimal make up and I don’t think anybody wore perfume or cologne. I would buy Mike cologne but he never wore it. I would be drawn to men who where wearing it. Not because they where “hot” just to smell the cologne. Mike smells really good naturally, but he knows I LOVE the smell of a man wearing cologne. Then my mother-in-law would talk to me and tell me, “a woman should only wear lipstick and a little rouge.” Bless her heart, she told me that so many times. She would talk about other girls my age and how ridiculous they looked in make up. Little did she know I was way to deep into make up to quit. I would laugh and tell my friends that, my mom is calling me telling me to wear my make up and my M-in-L was telling me not to wear it.

I look back to see how it effected my marriage. Mike would tell me I was always beautiful with or with out make up. I would get so upset. Now, I realize that make up was my “signature” and I needed Mike to be wowed when I put it on. Skip ahead 26 years, now at my age, things have faded and he actually likes me to wear it. Either he has figured out after all these years to acknowledge that I look nicer with it on or Aging Sucks!:-)
