My Hubby......

So I don't often brag about Mike. I'm old school, and know others aren't always as happy as we are so I tend to keep how great he is to myself. Nobody likes a bragger!:-) But today was his birthday, and last week we had a lesson about letters and the importance of keeping a record and such. I don't keep a journal but I do keep a blog. So I decided to post my feeling about him on my blog. Plus he won't get a big head because he never reads it anyway!

I hit the jackpot when I married Mike. He has always shown me love and wanted to be with me. He tries to keep me happy at all times. Actually, if we had any issues, he worked harder to change than I ever did. So he is a better husband than I am a wife. I think he is still very "hot," we enjoy each others company, we just have a good time with each other. He loves his children deeply, and is an awesome and fun grandpa. He is loyal to his friends. He loves life and wants others to be happy around him. When my parents were here, my dad told me "Mike loves you as much as any man can love a woman." I know Mike loves me, and I love him. I do have his father to thank for much of the good in our marriage. Mike's dad was a great example of loving your wife. So to my benefit I have reaped the rewards of Mike growing up in a home where he watched a good healthy marriage. I hope our boys will also be good husbands. Erin told me not all that long ago, "I'm mad at you and dad" When I said why? She said, "Because I grew up watching you guys and you made marriage look so easy!" She said, "I didn't realise there was some hard work involved!" She was right and we have had our ups and downs like anybody else. But we enjoyed each other more than anything. So the fights and unpleasant times were few and far between. So I just want to say "Happy Birthday Baby!"

For his birthday when he was a little kid his mother made him "vegaroni." It was his favorite birthday meal. It was homemade mac and cheese, but with the vegetable rotini. He ask for that today.
Then we made him blow out his candles. He handled all of them very well:-)

Then he and Ana helped the Princess pick the chocolate shaving off of his cake!

We had a fun night, food, presents, chocolate cake, the Wii, the kids, the princess, what more could a guy want!

She's grown some hair, now we are hoping for teeth!

So the Princess has finally grown a little hair. I was able to put her hair in cute little pigtails. Her grandpa loved them. But she only has 7 teeth. It is so hard to feed her regular food. She eats it all, she just can't chew it up. I'm sure that she will have good strong teeth when they ever get here:-) We took her to lunch while we were watching her. And she just picked up the straw and knew she needed to unwrap it. She work so hard and unwrapped it. But it makes me wonder how often does she get a soda......hummmmmm:-)

So today I met the girls at the mall and we did a little shopping. The princess loves stuffed dogs.

She picks them up and barks at them.

Her grandma bought her a dalmatian. She saw it and looooved it! We tried to get her to pick and elephant, teddy bear, giraffe, but she wanted that dalmatian.

Then we did a little window shopping. She was so intrigued by a little fountain. We had to drag her away. It was a fun day.

Annoying Blog Music Apoligie!

So as I would visit other peoples blogs once in a while I would come across a blog that had music. It would always surprise me, make me jump, or annoy the family. Depending on what I was doing I would just quickly hit the mute button on my computer. Once in a while I would listen to the songs, most of them were songs I enjoyed. But when i would be startled by it I have to admit I would roll my eyes, and think why do they have music on their blog, just let me read your blog in peace.

As you can see I have changed. As I started listening to the music and enjoying it I decided it was fun. I even got my own play list. I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I understand that it can be annoying to others. But hey, you are on my blog for maybe 5 minutes at a time. So you can turn the music down. But as for myself I pull my blog up and I play all my songs while I cook or clean, or read. I have songs on my list that I remember hearing as a little kid. Songs I probably would never hear again without this list. My blog music literally makes me happy, or takes me back to my childhood. There are songs that really mean something to me, like Keb'mo's "Just Like Me" , or "Lean on Me" when you really listen to the words to "lean on me", it is a song about some of our baptismal covenants. Three Dog Night had a fun song for kids "Jeremiah Was a Bull Frog", but as I looked for their stuff I realized that I loved most of their stuff. Mac Davis' "It's hard to be humble" was popular my senior year and was so funny. Gilbert Sullivan's "Alone Again Naturally", the words are a bummer but the sound takes me way back to when I was a little tiny kid.

So my point is I'm really sorry that the music pops out at you. But I just looooooove it!

200th post....

Well my blog manager tells me this is my 200th post. I had a few drafts, that I thought were lost so I rewrote them. But all together this is 200. So in honor of the 200th post I have the princesses first ponytail! I have been waiting for her to grow some hair, so I could do more stuff with it. When she comes to my house she knows where I keep the hair stuff and she pulls me to the drawer and laughs and says "up". So I gladly fix it for her. Well she and her father stayed with us while her mom went off for a fun getaway weekend. So I decided to throw caution to the wind and do a ponytail. And it was sooooo cute.

Then we went shopping with uncle Nate and got some stinky old video game, and a few things grandma needed.

And we also got a princess tea set. She loves the spoons out of this set the most.

So Saturday morning we got up and made her second ponytail and headed outside. She helped me do a few things in the yard and then she got mud on her shoes. It did not make her happy.

Now on to a little delima. This is "my artist," we call him my artist because I bought 2 of his water colors last year. Then I saw him again this year and my camera battery was dead, so Robin took this picture of him for me. When I saw him I told him I bought stuff from you last year I'm surprised to see you again. He told me I've been here for 17 years. So I suppose if I go next year I will see him again.

But I bought 2 more from him this year. I love rich colors and he has rich colors in his work.

This one was just beautiful, the colors blew me away. They don't quite come across in the picture.

This is my problem I framed the 2 I got last year and hung them on this wall. But I don't know what to do with my new ones. Part of me would like to keep them close together. But then I know this wall isn't that big. So if you have any ideas. I would love to here them. Decorating is not my talent!

Did hell freeze over?

I woke up to lot's of snow this morning! I know it makes a big mess, but there is something so awesome about falling snow. I was amazed at the first snow we had after we moved here. We were out Christmas shopping and I had on a black coat. A snowflake fell on my arm and melted in about 2 seconds. But I watched it, and when it hit my arm I was blown away because it looked like the snowflakes we always used to cut out in school. They are truly beautiful, like the beautiful crystal snow flakes you see at Christmas. So I tried to get a good shot of them. I have to say, I am proud that this country has put a man of color in as the president. I am however very sad that it was this particular man. I'm sad that he doesn't seem at all patriotic. And as Gina said, "He doesn't seem to be thankful for this country, he seems like this country is supposed to be thankful of him, or worship him." And I agree. I know we need to reunite our country again, we all seem bitter and hateful. But it is going to be hard to be supportive of this man. I hope he makes good choices for us. Mike just told Nathan last night, "Now we have to pray for the president and our country."

So I'll just finish up with a few snow pictures. Beatrice gets very cold when she has to go out and go potty. And the snow in the yard was fairly deep, and gets on her face.

Daylight saving sucks!

Wow, I gained an hour and I'm messed up! I woke up to early yesterday. Then last night I kept waking up all night long. I have to say it was dark here until around 8:00AM and we got used to now it's bright and sunny at 7:00. I guess I'm just not a morning person!

So I got pictures of the princess trick or treating. She trick or treated with Giselle from Enchanted. Giselle had a super cool grandma that made her dress. She sewed on crystals and ruffles, it was very cute.
This is us when we found our princess. I think she was happy to see us, but we have some heavy competition from the chocolate bar in her hand.

Then the kids came over and hung out with us Saturday and Sunday night. Sunday night Jon made dinner for everybody. He's a good cook. The princess has tried to eat these biscuits 2 weekends in a row. We laughed because it was so cute her asking her mom to open it. But this weekend she had learned that they were for the dog. So she grabbed one out and fed it to the dog.

Once in a while the princess gets my eyes. She had put a pile of cheerios on the floor.

Then she bent down and started eating like the doggy. I was laughing and told her let me take your picture, so she cut her eyes over at me and I got this great shot!

But the night ended on a sad note. The princess fell off a chair and got a very fat lip.

We had a great weekend, I just wish we didn't have to deal with daylight savings!

Halloween Week

So Halloween week was great. First off my parent went home this week. We had them here for 4 weeks and really enjoyed their company, and were sad to see them go. And other than dad setting off the alarm with the wire in his chest (from his open heart surgery) and being searched literally for 5 minutes, they had a great trip home. Our ward is awesome. Our Bishop likes us to feel close and has put some great people on the activities committee. So we had this super cool Halloween party. Nathan went as Pac Man, I tried to paint pac man on his face. I'm not good at that sort of thing.
Some people in our ward live by a super cool old building. They go all out to decorate it and it makes for the best Halloween parties.

Pac Man and his friend The Nerd.

Some of the super cool decorations.

Some more of the super cool decorations. Lot's of stuff glows under a black light and things move and light up. That doesn't come across in a picture.

I had book group at my house. It was fun. We read a fun book about the murder of Humpty Dumpty. So I made some bone sandwiches.

Some deviled "eyes." I didn't have red paste food coloring to make the red squiggly lines in the "whites" they look so much better with that.

And topped things off with a candy bar cake.

Mike gave out full size candy bars. He just loves to give the kids a full size candy. The kids get so happy. But I made him close up shop at 7:30 and go with me to take Nathan. Mike was a little bummed but we had lot's of kids already come by. It was raining slightly and pretty dark by then. I figured we were safe to leave, we had most of the kids we were going to get. We drove Nathan over to a party at his brothers house. Which happens to be super close to the Princesses house. So we tracked the kids down at a party. There are a group of couples who all have little princesses and they had a party last night. They all took their sweet little girls "trick or treating." Our princess loved it and even learned to say "trick or treat." We had her come out and give us kisses. She would not let go of her little candy bucket and was so tired she only said "treat" to us:-) We had bought a her a few things. We got her the softest little white hoody, it had Pooh on it. It was sooooooo soft, when I slid it on her and she said "wow." So grandpa and I were happy that she liked our gifts, grandpa even brought her some candy bars. We had a fun night alone, we tried to watch an old scary movie, but fell asleep. We are grandparents after all!
