left over pictures.....

I was going through my camera and found some pictures of interesting things I forgot to post. Well Mike and I aren't interesting but we are a little bit cute we were at the Hard Rock Cafe in Amsterdam, happy to be eating normal food that wouldn't give us any "stomach problems":-) We went to the grocery store the night before we left to get some cookies and candies and ran into this, canned or bottled hot dogs, YUM! They also had some crazy flavors of potato chips, paprika was a favorite, but they had stuff like "roast turkey dinner", oh man now I've forgotten the crazy flavors.
I told you in my blog when I was there that people ride bikes everywhere. Well this is at the train station it's like a 4 decker bike parking garage. Click on the picture and make it big it will blow your mind!

So I have held back on you guys. Mike is on a computer forum for his work. Well allot of the guys really like him and last year they got into a contest to put Mike in all these different picture here a a few of them. These are a little scary I have to admitt, he does not make a pretty woman!

I think this one is my fave!!!hahaha

Vampire book

So one day I was talking to a lady in my ward she told me she had been reading these vampire books and ask if I had read them. I told her, no I didn't know anything about them. Weeks passed, I went to Amsterdam and had nothing to read. I got home, I was out shopping and saw the vampire books. I continued to see them so I decided to get the first one and try it. I really liked it so I made Mike go get me the other 2. I was in a fair amount of pain and couldn't do much else so I read. They were easy to read but I got through all 3 books in 2 weeks. That might not be impressive to most but I read slower and there are over 500 pages per book. The cool thing is the author is from the Phoenix area, so she describes things in the book and I know and can picture the places. Once I started reading them I found out everybody and their dog had read them. Even the surgeon I went to had been reading them. The bummer is she is working on the 4th book but it won't be finish for at least a year, what a wait.

So I was at the doctors office Tuesday, there were so many senior citizens their to see the doctor. There were only 2 people there under the age of 30. Well they had me come up to the desk working on paper work, and an older woman walked in needing a work release. I noticed her because she stood right by me and had a huge brace around her neck. When they ask her her birthday I almost dropped my jaw. She was over 1 year younger than me. But she looked so old! Then i just stared at her and realised that I'm getting old myself.

This was a town called Harlem.....

So I never heard of the book "The Hiding Place" evidently some people read it in school. Well we had a free day while we were in Amsterdam and this lady that I was with had read the book and just had to go to this town and tour the "Hiding Place". We rode a train to that town. It was fun.



This is the actual hiding place. They had built a false wall to hide their valuables it was a brick wall. They hid 6 adults in there at a time. They were a part of the underground railroad trying to save the Jews during the Holocaust. The people would have to crawl through the bottom shelf then they had to stack some things on the shelf or they would have found them.
This is a big beautiful church in that town. It is mentioned in the book, we toured it, the weirdest thing to me was that people are buried in the floor. The chairs are sitting on tombstones, and they are where you walk.
This was the train station. It was the first one in that country and ran between Harlem and Amsterdam.
This was just a cute little candy shop. We saw a candy shop in Edam it was awesome you felt like you had stepped back in time. Only that candy shop had chocolate shaped like naughty bits.

We had fun last night....

Issy is chewing on a rib, I told Erin when she's older instead of asking for cookies she is going to ask for Bar-B-Que!





We went to a soccer game last night,
Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy played in Salt Lake last night. Mike got the tickets along time ago, but he was gone. So Nathan, Erin, Issy, Jon, and myself went. David Beckam wasn't there so we were sad, but we still had fun.

Wow it's been a while...............

We made it home, it was a nightmare to get home we were up and traveling for about 26 hours. Then we were jet-lagged for a few days. and it really got my neck, shoulder, and arm all riled up again. So I haven't felt like typing for a while. But it was awesome and worth all of the pain! So we took a tour of the canal houses, I think this house is decorated as it was in the 1700's.
We also toured the Purse and Handbad musium. That was alot of fun!:-)
These shoes just baffled me guess what they are made out of? Toad, who would want to wear some frog shoes!


This is one of the gardens that we toured. I think it would be so fun to have my own garden in the back yard. I wonder what the snow would do to it.
