Our girls.....

Last Friday Mike and I took our girls to lunch. Issy is getting her first taste of pinacolada, her grandpa's favorite drink, virgin of course. She loved it, we had to hide it from her so she would eat her baby food.

She is way to cute in her blue jeans, hoody, and little tennis shoes. She is just so fun Mike and I just can't get enough of her.



We really enjoy Erin as a "grown woman" she is great to hang around with. We have taken them to lunch and met them at the movies. It's fun when Mike is off during the week and we can enjoy Erin's company. She is a great mom. So I have to sneak Issy treats and stuff when her mom isn't looking!























Then on our way home it started snowing and the flakes were huge the size of quarters. It was so cool, I tried to take a picture of it, but you just couldn't capture it. Anyways we have had sunny days all week and the snow is melting all away. It has been really pretty to have the sunshine and it's only 50 degrees outside. In Arizona it would be like 80 degrees and you would have to think about turning on the air conditioner.

My face hurts!!!

The earth is beautiful and it is full of beautiful places. Look at the blues and greens in the picture below. Then notice the brown spots in the south west that is where I have lived most of my life. When we moved to Utah I pictured beautiful green mountains. I pictured trees, rocks, and mountains in my back yard. I was wrong. Utah is a desert too. There is beauty here you just have to drive up to the mountains (which are not in my back yard) to see it. Or plant a bunch of greenery in your yard and wait a few years:-) Things do grow beautifully here.
My problem is we have some pretty bad air quality here this week. It was worse in Ogden and Provo this week than any place else in the country. That blew Charlies' mind he thought it would surely be L.A.. I just think that Utah needs to catch up with other larger cities in managing the air quality. Right now we are waiting for a storm to come and blow the bad air away. But Phoenix used to have this problem when we moved there and they got in trouble with the government and had to do something about it.

So my face hurts and this beautiful outdoor state is making me sick, literally!

Super sick weekend....

So Nate came home after school Friday and laid down on the couch. Which, of course, he never does. So off to the doctor we go. They test him for strep and to my suprise they test him for influenza (flu). I had no idea that there was a test that show if you have the A or B strain of the flu. We have come along way since I was a kid. Nay did have strep and even though we caught it on the first day, he was soooooo sick. He ran 103.5 temp. most of the time but last night it it went to 104 and we had to fight it to get it down. He is feeling better now but what a "bummer" for a 3 day weekend.

Plus we had a friend pass away last week. She was a fun video friend. When I would go to the WEVA video show in Vegas she was the "Weva Diva." She was 56 and literally the life of the party, she went to bed one night and just didn't get up. She died in her sleep of hardening of the arteries. Mike was flying thru Phoenix tomorrow and is going to be able to attend her funneral, on his way to Oregon.


Then a friend sent me an invite to this Shelfari thing and Mike and I spent all day trying to find books we had read. It was fun and irritating all at the same time. Now I have a sudden urge to go to the library!

I'm sure things will get happier this week. Now I have to go disinfect my house!

10 years ago I was…….. In Mesa with all four kids at home my oldest was 13 my youngest was 4. Those years have blurred together, I should have kept a journal. Because frankly I don’t remember exactly what was happening 10 years ago.


5 things on my to do list today…….. Pick Mike up from the airport, laundry (which is a constant), make a “thank you” treat for nice snow moving neighbor, mail 2 packages, and get groceries.


Things I would do if I was a billionaire……Get new cars! Ours are both having problems! Finish the basement, and hire and interior decorator! Have my yard transformed into an awesome garden get away with a covered heated pool. Have serious emergency preparedness stuff like a huge generator, with a tank buried in the yard for gas, and all the other emergency stuff. I would buy a cabin in the mountains, and a house on the beach. I would set up all of my family and I would travel!!! Probably get gastric bypass for me and the husband. Then I would do major humanitarian wok with the rest.


3 of my bad habits….. I am unorganized that can really be a pain. I hate to do laundry. I tend to assume people don’t have time for me, so Mike gets mad because I won’t call people and ask for help, I just assume they are to busy to bother.

5 jobs I’ve had…..It’s been to many years I can hardly remember! I worked at a Day Care Center, a Montgomery Ward Catalog store, a Taco Bueno, scooping ice cream cones and approving checks at a grocery store in Provo, and day care in my house while Mike was in school.


Things people don’t know about me…. I think everybody knows everything about me, I’m an open book!

~I’m adopted actually twice, once by my mom and her first husband and then a second time by her second husband.

~I watch “The View”, Whoopi and Sherri have made it fun. ~I get lonely for girlfriends sometimes (we moved away from all of mine).

~I have old “stick-in-the-mud” friends, I don’t think any of my older friends will ever start a blog, they are happy with “facebook” and “My space.”

~This is something I have only told my daughter about, but I love to put a spoonful of nesquick powder in my mouth and let it dissolve on my tongue.

~I have great thoughts and ideas in my head, but I rarely act on them. Like writing somebody a note and telling them something nice I felt about them.

Well this was yesterday, these pictures loaded all out of order. Nathan stayed out from around 9:00AM to 1:00PM. They did not provide bus service to Nathans school yesterday. Well the snow was so deep in our drive way that I couldn't get out to get him to school. OK you can click on my pictures and blow them up big. Then you will notice the broom out there by Nathan. I'm not aloud to shovel snow for a while (from my surgery) so I was out with the broom trying to sweep and do my part!:-) This is just a random shot of Nathan shoveling. I love when the camera catches the snow in the air.
This was at the end Charlie came out and helped Nathan finish everything up. They cleared the stairs and salted them. They did a great job. This was supposed to be the first picture. Nathan just got up and grabbed a shovel and started shoveling. I felt bad for him because we had some really high drifts in the driveway.

But our awesome neighbor came and saved the day. He had cleared the sidewalks on our street, and our first driveway entree, then he came and cleared our bigger driveway. You can't tell from the picture but the snow thrown in our driveway from the snow plows is up to my hips that is so hard to clear with a shovel! so he cleared that for us. It did look like he was having some fun. He would slam into the snow and drag it through the street and into the wall of snow across the street. He saved us so many hours of shoveling!!!
And finally thank goodness for our Rubbermaid mailbox! Our poor neighbors got a box full of snow and we lucked out! This storm was bad, there are so many horror stories of people stuck in their cars for 6 plus hours. About 60 kids had to spend the night at their elementary school, but they had a blast!

I'm just sooooo greatful we had elcetricity, satelite TV, water, and gas to heat our home!

Another one.....

So we had another crazy snow storm today. Nathan put on all his snow gear and went outside. Our house faces the north and this storm came from the north. It was very, very, windy! I called Steven and told him not to come home tonight. Nathan said that was mean:-) Snow was all over our windows. It literally got to the piont that we couldn't see out of any of the windows.

This is the entry way. Notice the snow covering the upper window and the little window on the door. Also the 2 side windows are covered too.
There was a long line of cars out in front of our house. I went into the garage to see what it was, well a guy got really stuck in the snow. That is our driveway in the forefront.

The things you can find.....

The things a person can find at "The Wal Mart"! A pack of all green m & m's. It says it's the new color of love. But I know what green m & m's stood for 30 years ago, when I was a kid:-)



Then if you know me very well, you know I don't like the "cola" flavor, not pepsi, RC, coke, none of it (I do love Dr. P). But we went to a friends wedding down in Mexico, actually the weekend before 9/11, we were releaved we were back home when they closed the borders. Anyway we took bottled water, but at their wedding they served Coca-cola. Well you have never been to a proper wedding if you haven't been to a Mexican Wedding. EVERYBODY dances, and the songs are at least 3 times longer than our songs. Plus they go till 3:00 or 4:00 AM. So it's about 1:00AM and the grooms young ,handsome, Mesa Police Officer, brother asks me to dance. The songs are all up beat so you dance fast, even if it's a slow dance, I was dieing, trying not to let this kid see me gasping for air, and sweating like crazy. Mike was at the table laughing at me. And when I got back I was so thirsty a poured a big class of Mexican Coka-cola. It was delicious, I actually liked it. Now our Wal Mart has Mexican Coke on the shelves. It says it's made out of sugar not high fructose corn syrup. So I grabbed some. It wasn't as yummy as it was that night, but it was good! Then we were coming out of Wal Mart and low and behold there was a steeple in the parking lot. You don't see that every day!
