Happy Family Day....

So today was a busy fun day. Dad and Mike got a shelving unit up. They have done a lot of projects this weekend. They got the blinds up in the garage, the shelf up in my bathroom, and this shelf for my laundry room. And oh, no bishop, they didn't put this shelf up on a Sunday:-)

So my cousin Stacy and her family came over. And spent time with mom and dad and all of us.

Mom fed sweet little Esme some yogurt. She is such a sweet baby.

It's fun to have family visit us. It was one of the things that made us so excited to move up here. Is to have family to hang out with.

The princess latched on to her older cousin Kelsey. And Kelsey was so sweet to hold her, even while she played the Wii.

Then the kids got grandpa to play the Wii. He bowled quite a few rounds today!

Then as it was getting later in the evening, everybody decided to take the princess to the park.

The princess was wearing a little sun jumper. So we found her some long pants which her skirt is tucked into, an unmatching hoody, and a beany to keep her hoody on.

sweet stuff......

So mom and I went and saw "The Secret Life of Bee's" today. I read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I was excited to go see the movie. This is my problem, when I have read the book I have a harder time judging the movie. I watch the movie version of books I have read and I know the entire story. Even if the movie doesn't do the greatest job of filling you in on the back story. So I wonder if a movie is really good, or if I liked it because I knew the ertire story. But I have to admit I saw Nights in Rodanthe, and read the book. I didn't feel like the movie was very great. but I really enjoyed the Secret Life of Bee's, so did my mom. So I was watching the "Yam Cam" and actually saw a woman I knew talking on her phone and waving to people. They have a big parade on Saturday morning. My dad is a "parade official" who had to miss it this year, to be with me. So on Saturday morning after cleaning my laundry room. He sat and watched the parade, and later in the evening while we were watching TV he kept an eye on the "Yamboree" to see if he could see anybody else. So he stayed a little connected. On a side note, I told Erin that my dad cleaned my laundry room. She said, "I need your dad over here." I said "no he is my dad!" Then she said , "my dad sucks!" I laughed a little thinking not many dads would clean their daughter laundry rooms. But then it struck me just who her dad was and I cracked up. Maybe you had to be there.

I posted the Yam Pie/ Sweet Potato Pie recipe on my blog and decided to make it myself. This was my first yam pie and it was good! I remember having a piece as a kid and thinking it tasted like pumpkin pie. But I was wrong. I don't care for pumpkin pie, it's to heavy, or dense for my taste. So the sweet potato pie was yummy, especially with my freshly grated nutmeg.

It was a great week!

Well I have had the dancing'est week since I was a kid! On Wednesday Erin and the princess were over. We started playing music and the princess started dancing. Then she made all of us get up and dance. We danced all morning! Then Wed. night I went to the funnest bridal shower ever. It was for Heather who was in my blog with her "now Husband" a few weeks ago. Her mother best friend threw the shower. She was amazing, she threw a "Mama Mia" Shower. She had her house decorated so fun. She really went all out, I had never been to a shower like that. At first when I walked up to the house I saw in the first window and it had all of these sheet and things hanging in the room. I thought to myself, "Oh this isn't where the shower is, these people aren't expecting company!" But then when I went in, I felt like a dork, because she had all of the fun colorful sheets hanging so you walked through the hanging sheets to get to the main room. We played all the fun shower games, sat at long tables decorated in the fashion of the movie, ate a delicious meal of food from Greece. Had dancing and entrainment, including dancing in the yard around a fire pit with the groom and his friends dancing around as the mask marauders! It was an awesome shower.



Then off to the wedding on Friday. It was such a sweet ceremony. They are two amazing kids. Heather made the most gorgeous bride. She has such a beautiful smile. It is always so special to be invited to somebodies wedding. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple. I had a personal moment in their wedding. It was over, and the parents had just been up with the kids to hug them. They had the parents sit and then let the grandparents come up and greet the kids. I thought "I'm a grandma now." I imagined the Princess in 20 years being there, and I just cried!

They had a great luncheon. With some very touching family moments. And I took no pictures of all of this stuff, I'm a dork. I do have to say that I love blogs, there will be lot's of pictures of them on blogs. I heard people taking shots and saying "that one is going on the blog!"



But then last night we were off to the reception, the girls rode with us. It was a blast! They are such a fun couple. Nick adores Heather and was so thrilled to be her husband. Nick has a group of friends that are very rare. They LOVE to dance! Erin said, "Wow, where did he get that many friends who love to dance!" There was so much dancing and fun last night, that we woke up sore this morning!

It was a good wedding, they are an awesome couple. Heather is going to have a happy, fun life, with a great guy to love her, like Nick!

No time for words......

I'm off to Heathers wedding this morning. They are being married in the Salt Lake Temple. They are such a fun couple, I'm excited for them. It is the middle of the Yamboree, and there is a "Yam Cam" so for today and tomorrow you can take a little peak.http://207.70.157.22/. You can actually control the camera or anybody else. October snow!

We woke up to snow this morning! Snow in October! It's crazy..... Plus if you noticed my dad with Mikes help got the railing up on our stairs. Mike and I are thrilled and relieved, we worried for over a year about somebody getting hurt falling off. My fuzzy baby came over last week, while the princess was staying with us. She just loves him.

So mom and dad have been here almost 2 weeks. Mom and I have figured out the best way to shop. I got to drive this cart across the store to mom. It was a blast! Mom got really good at driving the cart around.


Nathan had a concert this week, we sat there for 3 hours. We went an hour early, because Nathan didn't know what time it started. Mike played games on his fancy phone and I took my book so I read. There was a girl in the very front wearing a skirt (all of the girls wore skirts). She started off OK, she was a tall kind of lanky girl. You could tell that she was rarely in a dress. As time went on she just flat out spread her legs wide and I do mean WIDE open. The saving grace was that part of her skirt fell between her legs and covered her up. I really hope her mother had a talk with her, because that could have been a very bad situation. I had to force myself not to take a picture, she looked like a boy would have looked wearing a skirt and unaware of keeping things covered.

This was after the concert. We were going home after 3 long hours. this is Nathans friend Cody, there are two Codys' in our ward. So we lovingly referred to him as "Cowboy Cody", he is even wearing a cowboy tie.

A fun week......

This is gross, but I needed some sympathy! I had a verruca (yes like in Willy Wonka) appear out of no where, a few days before our trip. I had no idea what it was, it was just a very sore bump. After I got home I went to the urgent care and they removed it. We didn't know what it was until it was cut off. And he called it a verruca it sounds nicer than what we are used to calling it. But not even 2 weeks later part of it had grown back. So i went to my doctor and he had to dig a hole in my thumb. It really hurts. But I'm hoping it will stay away!

During my miserable thumb thing, I watched the princess last week. We enjoyed having her around. Nathan really enjoyed when she insisted on massaging his back. The massager lights up and she loves it. We went shopping with Mike to the big and tall man store. Nathan found a hoody that he could invite a few friends in with him.

My parents came in and of course we ended up taking a trip to "Wally World" as my dad calls it. We had the princess so we had to check out the toys. She loved this princess couch. So Great Grandpa sat her in it.

Then the resident rat went to the groomers and came back looking quite spiffy!
It was conference weekend. And we do live in Happy Valley now so we got some fun visitors. Jerry spent the night with us Friday night. He brought me these beautiful flowers. They looked great with all of my fall decorations. It even had a "bird of paradise" in it. I didn't take a picture of Jerry. But I took pictures of his flowers:-)

Jerry also brought his beautiful daughter Heather and her Fiance' Nick. The princess latched on to them. I guess she was happy to see some youth around this house! She loved them. They are getting married in a few short weeks. It will be so exciting for them.

The princess had her play crown and she would put it on Nick and then take it off and put it on Heather. Nick was a great sport with her. He is planing on being a pediatrician. He proved he has the skills!

Then on Saturday night, we had Steve and his son Vuvo (I'm not sure how to spell it) spend the night with us. Steve and his wife adopted their son from Russia a few years ago. Now he has received his mission call and is heading to the Ukraine. Where they speak Russian and of course he speaks Russian. I told him, that I wondered if he would stay in the full 2 1/2 months for language training, because he already speaks the language. He wondered also. But he said if they didn't let him go early, that they might have him help teach or something. He is a very nice guy, and we have always loved Steve, so it was good to see them.

Finally Grandpa got his wish. I couldn't wait for the Princess to recognise me and be happy to see me. That happened and this afternoon, the princess took a nap with her grandpa. He has always wanted to snuggle up with her and take a nap. They are both very content!
